Vintage Longines Comet (c. 1969)

A NOTE FROM THE CURATOR

The Longines Comet is one of the funkiest vintage designs to come out of the 60's and 70's. With the fixed hour and minute indicators rotating independently on concentric discs around the dial of the watch, this watch takes a completely unique approach to the more traditional dial layout.

This example has a stunning bordeax coloured inner-dial, where the hour hand lives. The fat arrow hour hand is the standout feature of the watch, and on this particular example has an extraordinary creamy puffy orange patina.

The minute hand is a simple but prominent tritium enforced dot, that rotates on its own black ring on the outer segment of the dial.

CONDITION

This is all original and honest example of a truly collectible watch. The dial in its entirety is in extremely good condition, and reinforced by the evenly aged tritium lumed hour and minute indicators. The bottom of the chapter ring is showing some small specks.

The case is showing light wear and some scratches, appropriate for its age, and appears to have been polished. There is a more scratch along the left hand side of the case. Please review the pictures for an in depth tour around the watch.

The crystal is completely original, with the still-crisp "Longines Comet" moniker stamped directly on it. There is light scratching on the crystal, but nothing too significant. the watch is also equipped with the original stamped crown is in good condition. It is running well. Service history is unknown.
