This exceptionally rare late-1940s Vacheron Constantin “Ricciolo” stands out for its distinctive platinum scroll lug case - an expressive design language often compared to the celebrated Patek Philippe Ref. 1491.
Produced in the immediate post-war era, it reflects a moment of renewed creativity in Swiss watchmaking, pairing sculptural casework with a refined two-tone dial featuring a 12-3-6-9 layout and inner minute track. Despite measuring in at 32mm (top to bottom, and 29mm side to side), the case, featuring its beautifully sculpted lugs wears larger than than you would expect, due to the unique flared flanges between the lugs. With the weight and tone of platinum, combined with the elegant two-tone dial, this watch wears with an unmistakable presence on the wrist, resulting in an uncommon example that feels both historically significant and visually forward all at the same time.

Case Platinum case in excellent overall condition with minor surface wear consistent with age. The defining scroll lugs remain sharp, well-proportioned, and clearly articulated. Inner caseback bears visible platinum hallmarks.
Case serial: 845976
Dial Beautiful two-tone silver-toned dial with applied markers and 12-3-6-9 numerals. Inner minute track adds a vivid depth and structure. Some light spotting from age is present, and a small amount of wear around the dial’s edges.
Movement Signed Vacheron Constantin Cal. 458/2B, manual wind, 17 jewels, 18,000 A/h. Movement serial: 477419 Running at approximately -13 to +16 seconds/day at time of recording. Service history unknown; servicing recommended at the new owner’s discretion.
