A NOTE FROM THE CURATOR

Ressence has long been one of my favourite independent brands, and in my opinion, one of the most exciting and unique in modern watchmaking. To my regret, I have experienced Ressence watches in-person only a handful of times, always leaving me hungry to see more pieces from their lineup.

That’s why I’m so pleased to be bringing my first Ressence into the shop, with this fantastic *near-new* TYPE 1° Round Multicolour. This new generation of the TYPE 1°, announced in March of 2023 introduces a new flat disk titanium case (reminiscent of a skipping stone), and a vibrant, yet restrained, multi-colour dial. This watch perfectly captures what makes the brand so special: a playful commitment to rethinking how time can be displayed through motion rather than tradition hands.

For those unfamiliar, Ressence’s patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System) replaces the traditional dial-and-hand layout with a set of rotating discs that orbit together on a single convex surface. Each sub-dial (hours, seconds, and day) moves in constant synchronization, maintaining orientation as they revolve. The result is a fluid, ever-changing display that’s both intuitive, mechanically fascinating, and surprisingly easy to read.

The Multicolour dial adds a fun twist to this concept, using subtle colour cues to enhance legibility and highlight the choreography of the movement beneath. And the lime, weaved throughout every element of the dial, just adds to the practicality of this piece. Paired with its round Grade 5 titanium case, this example embodies Ressence’s core values: innovation, clarity, and a unique visual presence that’s as refined as it is original.

CONDITION

Near-new condition, lightly worn around the house over the past couple months since purchased from an authorized dealer in late August.

Titanium case is in fantastic condition. No dings or dents at all, just a light, barely visible scuffs on each of the case sides.
Fine hairlines surface scratches on buckle
Bezel, lugs, crystal, caseback, and dial are pristine
Rubber strap is in mint condition with no wear
