Pogue Trilogy Collection

Attention Seiko collectors and enthusiasts! We have a treat for you - an exceptional set of 3 Pogue Seiko watches, featuring the stunning yellow, blue, and (extremely rare) silver variations. What sets this offering apart is that these three highly collectible and historic pieces are being offered together, in what I like to call, the "Pogue Trilogy” or “Pogue Family Set". And what a happy family it is!

Nicknamed after the legendary astronaut William Pogue, who wore the yellow variant during the 1973 Skylab 4 mission, this now-famous reference is known as the first automatic chronograph in space! Initially launched in 1969, it also happens to be the first automatic chronograph ever released by Seiko. It hit the market alongside competitive chronograph models from Zenith (El-Primero), as well as the Calibre 11 watches (a movement housed in watches by Heuer, Hamilton, Breitling, Buren).

CONDITION

All three watches are in excellent condition, and appear to be unpolished, despite showing some expected wear. All parts are original aside from replacement crystals for all three watches, and a NOS minute hand on the blue Pogue (which appears a shade more vibrant than the faded chrono hand).

The blue and yellow Pogues come with a beautiful steel H-Link bracelet from Uncle Seiko, while the silver Pogue features its original steel bracelet.

Despite the wonderful condition of all three watches in the set, they all carry their own unique qualities and details. As such, I am including a brief breakdown of each individual watch below:

(YELLOW) 6139-6005
Production Date: November, 1972

  • Mounted on new H-Link steel bracelet from Uncle Seiko.
  • Serviced in 2021
  • New crystal installed
  • English + Spanish alternating date wheel

(BLUE) 6139-6005
Production Date: May, 1975

  • Mounted on new H-Link steel bracelet from Uncle Seiko.
  • Recently serviced by previous owner
  • New crystal, with very small scratch near the date window.
  • NOS minute hand replacement
  • English + Spanish alternating date wheel

(SILVER) 6139-6002
Production Date: April, 1972

  • Mounted on original bracelet, fitted for a roughly 6.5" wrist. One of the original end links was damaged, and was replaced by previous owner.
  • Service history unknown but running as it should, and was recently been outfitted with new gaskets by previous owner.
  • New crystal installed
  • Ultra-rare variant. At one time believed to have been an after-market mod since collectors were unable to locate any exampled of the silver variant in archival catalogues or marketing material. It was later confirmed that these are indeed real, but extremely rare. As a result, they are now the most sought after of the Pogue family of watches, and demand a premium on the market.
  • English + Roman Numeral alternating date wheel
