Panerai isn’t typically known for high-complication chronographs—but that’s what makes the PAM246 such an intriguing outlier. Released in 2006 as a limited edition of 300 pieces, this 45mm Radiomir combines split-seconds timing with a foudroyante (1/8th second) display, all housed in a classically styled cushion case.

The black dial features a 30-minute counter at 3, small 1/8 seconds at 9, and a central chronograph hand with split capability. The split-seconds function allows you to measure two intervals at once—perfect for tracking lap times—while the foudroyante hand at 9 o’clock provides a rapid-fire display of each second broken into eight jumps (you really have to see this hand on the move to understand how cool it is). A tachymeter scale encircles the dial, reinforcing the watch’s motorsport spirit.

Under the hood is Panerai’s OP XXI automatic calibre, visible through a sapphire display back and dressed with Geneva stripes and circular graining. The polished 316L steel case includes removable wire lugs—classic Radiomir with some subtle technical upgrades.

For the Paneristi who appreciates when Panerai steps outside its usual playbook, this piece offers a compelling mix of utility, flair, and mechanical ingenuity.

CONDITION

Immaculate pre-owned condition. Only minor, hardly visible surface scratches on the case and bezel. Extremely minimal surface scuffing can be seen on the case side in certain light, but overall, no major distractions on the watch. The strap shows very minimal wear and remains in excellent shape.

Comes as a full set, including box, original booklets, authentication parchment paper certificate scroll, original warranty card, and purchase papers and 2nd warranty card from the second owner who acquired the piece from a reputable Canadian dealer in 2023.
