Omega Seamaster 14390-8-SC (c. 1958), Exceptional Condition

Condition, Condition...Condition! This watch ticks all three of those boxes. 

If you are interested in watches from the early years of the sports watch renaissance, then this absolutely immaculate central seconds Seamster (from 1958) could become the crown jewel of your collection. 

CONDITION REPORT

The watch appears to be all original and unpolished (which has become increasingly rare in sports watches of this era).

Very sharp edges all around the case and lugs.

The case is in impeccable condition with very little wear. Just a few tiny scratches on the caseback rivets from a watchmaker tool, but the case is otherwise flawless.

Original lume on the hour markers and hands has an amazing burnt orange patina. There is one spot on the minute hand where there is extremely light flaking, which I have trouble seeing with the naked eye. In fact, I personally only noticed the flake under my macro lens…so that’s me being quite picky. The watch comes with an Omega stamped crown and buckle.

The dial is a stunning cream white, with applied gold coloured indices, and the desirable 12, 3, 6, 9 configuration. Adding to the charm of this watch is the period-correct "coat-hanger" font used in Seamaster on the dial.

The watch is powered by a recently-serviced caliber 285 manual-wind movement. The movement has a 1.6M serial (dating the watch to 1958). 

You are definitely paying a small premium for condition of this watch. But one that is worthwhile, as it’s becoming more and more difficult to find these watches in this kind of condition.
