 Up for sale is this brand new Type XX Tribute Chronograph, a vintage-inspired collaboration between historic watchmaker Mathey-Tissot and Massena LAB. 

This homage piece is a direct call-back to aviation's great mid-century tool watches, and is one of two chronographs released as part of this particular partnership. This piece, in particular, featuring a warm brown dial, is modelled after William Massena's very own aged vintage Type 20 watch. 

THE HISTORY

In the 1950s and 60s, Breguet and other manufacturers received contracts from the French Ministry of Defense to create pilot's watches with specific requirements. These included a flyback function, black dial with luminous Arabic numerals and two registers, a bidirectional 12-hour rotation bezel, and a minimum 35-hour power reserve.

Due to limited resources, Breguet turned to Swiss partner Mathey-Tissot to fulfill the contract. Mathey-Tissot, known for supplying the Type 20 chronograph, manufactured all 2,000 pieces instead of Breguet.

The Mathey-Tissot x Massena LAB Type XX Tribute Chronograph features a distinctive brown tropical dial and luminous Arabic numerals inspired by William Massena's vintage Breguet Type XX chronograph. It is powered by the manual-winding Sellita caliber SW510BHa, boasting 28,800 half oscillations per hour (4 Hz) and 23 jewels.

CONDITION & SCPECIFICATIONS

This watch is brand new without any signs of wear. It comes with the full set which includes a beautifully crafted wooden box, additional bund leather strap, and all the paperwork. 

The watch comes with it's original guarantee, which is 2 years from the original purchase date (Nov, 2022).
