The case has a beautifully thin and rounded profile, measuring 35.5mm in diameter and seems to be unpolished, adding to its vintage charm.
This watch has been recently serviced, ensuring that it is running strong, keeping excellent time, and that all four calendar functions are functioning as they should. PLEASE NOTE: Do not use any of the calendar quick-set functions when the watch is set between 10am and 2pm. When the watch is in this position, engaging the quickset buttons can damage the movement.
ABOUT LEONIDAS
Founded in 1841, Leonidas gained a reputation for precision and quality. By mid-century, Leonidas remained a leading producer of chronographs and stopwatches, cementing its position as a leading watchmaker in the global market. The 1964 merger with Heuer would later bring further success and recognition to the Leonidas brand. But as a result of the quartz crisis in the 1970's, Leonidas did not fair well. With the popularization of quartz stopwatches in the 1980s, followed by TAG's acquisition of Heuer in 1985, the Leonidas brand was eventually retired.
Despite sharing a similar fate with the many other Swiss watch brands flattened by industry disruption of this era, enthusiasts are increasingly recognizing Leonidas an important brand worth seeking out and collecting.
