A beautifully preserved reminder of a more sophisticated age of travel, this elegant Jaeger-LeCoultre eight-day travel clock survives almost like a time capsule, complete with its original leather travel case, original presentation box, and warranty booklet documenting the original date of sale, retailer, and matching serial number from December 1970.

A NOTE FROM THE CURATOR

A compact expression of mid-century sophistication, this elegant Jaeger-LeCoultre eight-day travel alarm clock captures an era when travel accessories were designed with the same care and refinement as the finest watches of the period. Folding neatly into its black leather travel case, it feels every bit the companion piece to a beautifully tailored suitcase or briefcase. Understated, functional, and unmistakably refined.

The silver-toned linen dial is wonderfully restrained, featuring applied gilt hour markers and lume plots throughout, signed by Jaeger-LeCoultre beneath 12 o’clock and marked with the numeral “8” above 6 o’clock to denote the clock’s impressive eight-day power reserve. The tritium on the original tritium-filled dauphine hands remain fully intact and have aged beautifully alongside the lume on the dial, developing a warm and even patina throughout.

Housed in a brass case with gold plating, the clock folds into its original black leather travel case, retaining the elegant proportions and minimalist design language that defined many of JLC’s finest functional objects of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Happy hunting,

CONDITION REPORT & CONTENTS

This Jaeger-LeCoultre travel alarm clock is presented in exceptional vintage condition.

The brass base case with gold plating shows only minor signs of wear throughout. The black leather folding travel case remains in overall excellent condition with a couple light scuffs, consistent with age and careful use.

The linen dial is in overall great condition with some ring marks visible from the hands. The original tritium on both the dial and hands is fully intact and has aged to an attractive and even patina throughout. The minute hand displays a small dark spot near the tip.

The crystal is in very good condition providing a clear window onto the dial. The crystal shows some light wear, faint ring marks and a few very light, barely visible spots visible under close inspection.
