A Different Kind of Moser
H. Moser & Cie. built its reputation on minimalist, almost rebellious restraint, but the Heritage Centre Seconds flips that script. Introduced as part of a new direction for the brand, this model pulls from early 20th-century pilot’s watches and pocket-watch conversions, resulting in something that feels genuinely historic, yet unmistakably modern in execution.
Rooted in Early Aviation
The design language traces back to the 1920s, when brands like Longines, Zenith, and even Heinrich Moser, were producing some of the earliest pilot’s wristwatches. The influence is clear: wire-style lugs, bold Arabic numerals, and a highly legible railway minute track. Even the onion crown feels like it was lifted from a converted pocket watch, reinforcing the transitional era this piece pays tribute to.
Funky Blue, Done Right
What anchors the watch firmly in the present is Moser’s signature Funky Blue fumé dial. The sunburst brushing radiates from the center, gradually fading to near-black at the edges, a finish that has become synonymous with the brand. It’s rich, dynamic, and constantly shifting depending on the light.
Then there are the numerals. Oversized and unapologetically bold, they’re crafted from Globolight®, a ceramic-based luminous material infused with Super-LumiNova. Bright white in daylight and glowing vivid green in the dark, they deliver both visual punch and real functionality, far beyond traditional lume applications.
Thoughtful Case Design
At 42mm in diameter but just 11.1mm thick, the case wears far more elegantly than the dimensions suggest. The polished steel construction is complemented by subtle vertical fluting along the caseband, a nod to the Pioneer collection, while the tapered lugs maintain a vintage silhouette without feeling delicate.
In-House Mechanics, Pure Execution
Flip the watch over and you’re met with the HMC 200, Moser’s in-house automatic calibre. Cleanly finished with Moser’s double stripes, the movement features a bi-directional winding system, stop-seconds functionality, and a 72-hour power reserve. A free-sprung balance with gold regulating weights and a Straumann hairspring (produced by Moser’s sister company, Precision Engineering) underscore the brand’s serious technical pedigree.
