At its core, the SBGJ227 is a serious piece of watchmaking. It’s driven by Grand Seiko’s Hi-Beat Caliber 9S86, running at 36,000 vibrations per hour with a true, independently adjustable GMT hand, a movement built for precision, durability, and real-world usability. Housed in a modern reinterpretation of the historic 44GS case, the watch showcases the brand’s obsession with geometry: broad Zaratsu-polished planes, razor-sharp transitions, and a level of finishing that remains a benchmark in this segment.

Then there’s the dial — the reason this reference has become so sought after. Inspired by the iridescent feathers of a peacock, the deep green surface is stamped with a fine, repeating texture that gives the dial an almost three-dimensional quality. It’s not just green; it shifts between emerald, forest, and near-black depending on the light. The vibrancy feels alive, yet never overdone, striking a balance that few brands manage as confidently as Grand Seiko.
