With a lineage linking this specific watch directly to the golden age of motorsport (more on that below), this relic is a veritable treasure for aficionados of racing history.

With a long-standing history in motorsport Gallet was the official timekeeper at The William K. Vanderbilt Cup Race, taking place on Long Island, New York in 1904. This was the first international road race to be held in the United States, and Gallet was there from the beginning.

Flash forward to the 1960s, Gallet's presence in the world of racing remained, most notably as a long-standing official timing partner of the Indy 500. A special and rare collaborative version of MultiChron 45M, featuring signed cashes signed by another major race sponsor, "Champion Spark Plugs", embodies a unique link to the iconic Indy 500 races and the formidable drivers who triumphed on those hallowed grounds of the Brickyard.

These timepieces were not mere accessories; they were often given out as prestigious awards bestowed upon the winners of the Indy 500 race, symbolizing their monumental victories on one of motorsport's most revered stages. Owning a Gallet MultiChron 45M is akin to possessing a tangible piece of motorsport history – a portal to an era of racing excellence that has left an indelible mark on the sport's legacy.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THIS WATCH

With direct ties to the Indy 500, this particular example comes from the granddaughter of a pitcrew mechanic, who was reportedly gifted this watch by a driver who won the Indy 500 in the 1960's.

The watch has been well-maintained, and remains in excellent all-original condition. The case appears to be unpolished, and as most chrome plated watches of this era, is showing normal wear with some chrome plating beginning to subside.

The dial is in excellent condition, with the print remaining strong and intact. The dial has a stunning patina with light micro spotting, adding to the vintage charm of the piece. The "Champion" logo remains crisp and bright, and is the true star of this beautiful collectible. The fire blued hands stand out in certain light, and remain in excellent condition with areas of mild discolouration.

The watch has recently been serviced, and is running great. The pushers enjoy clean and crisp pushing action, and the chronograph runs as it should.
